Outsiders and Outcasts Unit

Since school started, you have read "The Metamorphosis," by Franz Kafka, together as a class and you have written an essay on whether outsiders are simply misjudged and misunderstood or not.

Now you have completed your small group learning with one of the four texts:

"The Doll's House," by Katherine Mansfield

three poems by Sherman Alexie, Harryette Mullen and Pat Mora

"Revenge of the Geeks," by Alexandra Robbins

"Encountering the Other: The Challenge of the 21st Century," by Ryszard Kapucinski

Tomorrow there will be a multiple choice test based on your reading.

Next week, we will begin independent learning. You will choose one of four texts (a myth, a memoir excerpt, a newspaper article, or a radio broadcast) to read on your own and respond to the selection.

We will end the unit with a Socratic Circle on the question "Do people need to belong?"
